Special Circumstances
There are a handful of special circumstances that can affect the game:
- Scope Creep: this can occur either because of a card being played that invokes Scope Creep, or as a mechanism of the Pulse Check. During Scope Creep, each player takes on two new Features, Bugs, and Unplanned Work items, for a total of six additions to the Backlog.
- Options: if you invoke the Options on a card that has them, the effect of the Options must be resolved, and the card must be moved to the dead letter queue afterwards. It cannot be put in your discard pile for later use. If that card is also Promoted, you must replace it with another Leader card as soon as possible. If a Leader comes up the next time you reset the Bench, it is automatically moved to the Board. If you acquire a Leader from the Event Stream, that Leader goes directly into play and not on your discard pile.
- Outages: gotta love those compensable SLAs. If an outage occurs, be sure to read the card that invokes the outage. Outages can occur at a Company, Regional, or Global level. If a player has an Outage card and plays it, the effects will vary based on the level of the Outage. For example, if a player has a Company outage, it only impacts one opposing player. A Regional outage will impact any player that has Leaders on the Board with a certain symbol. A Global outage affects everyone playing the game, including the player using the card. Most Outages, regardless of level, will impact the Influence meter of one or more players unless otherwise specified.
-
Poaching: who says the grass isn’t greener on the other side of the fence? Poaching occurs when a card with the Poaching symbol (
) is played. The player who has this card can effectively steal any card that any player has in his or her play area. I’ll repeat that. The poacher can take any card they want from anyone once they play their card. The card is immediately able to be played once poached. There are no restrictions on poaching during cooperative play, though doing so will likely be frowned upon.
